A Historical Collection & Preservation Project.

Chatham County is located in the heart of North Carolina and holds a history rich in agriculture, the arts, political action, and one of a kind characters who make life in this charming Southern Community an authentic and meaningful experience. The Chatham County Historical Association has partnered with students of Jordan Lake School of the Arts to initiate an archival project unlike others, where students guide the process of archiving oral and written histories of Chatham County residents. Through stories of important historical figures, podcasts centered each year around a pivotal occurance in local history and an annual character enactment of living legends, the story of one of the most interesting Southern communities is unfolding. History can be valued by children when a multifaceted approach to interwoven stories, the richness of discovering that history is always in the making through the day to day actions of those who engage in their local communities and use their lives to make changes for the better.
